This article explains the privacy configuration options available in CamBuildr, helping you comply with data protection regulations and build trust with your audience. These settings influence signup flows, cookie handling, consent collection, and data deletion.

Overview

You can access the privacy controls via:

Settings → Privacy

The following options are available:

1. Cookie Policy

If a cookie policy is selected here, it will automatically be displayed on all pages using the generic theme and all landing pages.

Click “Edit” to assign or update the cookie notice content.

2.

Double Opt-In

To ensure legal compliance with regulations such as GDPR, CamBuildr offers a double opt-in mechanism.

Once enabled:

  • Users receive a confirmation email.

  • Only after clicking the link are they officially added to your mailing list.

  • You can customize and test the double opt-in email directly from this section.

Expandable submenus let you fine-tune both the content and advanced behavior of the email.

If you want to create multiple opt-in flows for different communication tracks, refer to the article “Activating and using the Multi Consent feature.”

3. Captcha Integration

Choose a CAPTCHA provider to prevent spam signups on public forms.

Once activated, CAPTCHA appears automatically on all signup and UGC/commitment app forms.

4. Truncate Disclaimer and Consent Texts

To keep signup forms short, long disclaimers or consent texts are automatically truncated (after 45 or 90 characters), with a “Read more” link added.

You can disable this truncation to always show the full text.

5. Default Disclaimer

Set a default disclaimer that appears on all newly created pages using the theme.

Note: This will not overwrite manually added disclaimers on existing pages.

6. Automatic Deletion of Unsubscribed Users

To help manage your database and ensure data minimization:

  • You can enable automatic deletion of users who have unsubscribed.

  • Set the number of days after which they and all associated data (e.g. posts, supporter statements) are irreversibly removed.

  • This also applies retroactively to users who unsubscribed before activation.

Best Practices

  • Always test your double opt-in flow to ensure deliverability.

  • Keep your disclaimer texts up to date with your data practices.

  • Use automatic deletion to stay compliant with retention policies and avoid keeping unnecessary data.
